Expanding Platforms

 

Fairfield Media Center (FMC) is proud to announce that it is now an Online Internet Channel!

​

FMC has been developing its online presence since 2012 anticipating the shift towards streaming and on-demand services. Since then FMC has received 1.3 million views and just under 3000 subscribers to their YouTube Channels!

​

“Being an Online Internet Channel does not change who we are, what we do, or interfere with the services we provide. It gives us the opportunity to better focus our energy on serving our community where they are with quality local programming! ” stated Director Strong.

Due to equipment failures, maintenance costs and low viewership the FMC Committee voted to discontinue the legacy cablecast in Aug. 2026 and received the City Council's blessing in doing so during the City Council Study Session on Sept. 14th, 2026.

“This is just one of many platforms FMC hosts for locally created content in our community.  In August FMC expanded our webcast (currently hosted on FMC’s website) to include our YouTube Channel.” stated Strong. Both platforms provide options for traditionally scheduled or On-Demand viewing.

Fairfield Media Center continues to make locally created video content available to Fairfield and Jefferson County Iowa residents; promoting media literacy through video production education, editing, and critical viewing!
